历言人生逝世甚速 | History says that life and death are quick |
1“人为妇人所生，日子短少，多有患难。 | 1Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. |
2出来如花，又被割下，飞去如影，不能存留。 | 2He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. |
3这样的人，你岂睁眼看他吗？又叫我来受审吗？ | 3And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? |
4谁能使洁净之物出于污秽之中呢？无论谁也不能。 | 4Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. |
5人的日子既然限定，他的月数在你那里，你也派定他的界限，使他不能越过， | 5Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; |
6便求你转眼不看他，使他得歇息，直等他像雇工人完毕他的日子。 | 6Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day. |
7“树若被砍下，还可指望发芽，嫩枝生长不息。 | 7For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. |
8其根虽然衰老在地里，干也死在土中， | 8Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; |
9及至得了水气，还要发芽，又长枝条，像新栽的树一样。 | 9Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. |
10但人死亡而消灭，他气绝，竟在何处呢？ | 10But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? |
11海中的水绝尽，江河消散干涸。 | 11As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: |
12人也是如此，躺下不再起来，等到天没有了，仍不得复醒，也不得从睡中唤醒。 | 12So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. |
13“唯愿你把我藏在阴间，存于隐密处，等你的愤怒过去。愿你为我定了日期，记念我。 | 13O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! |
14人若死了，岂能再活呢？我只要在我一切争战的日子，等我被释放的时候来到。 | 14If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. |
15你呼叫，我便回答；你手所做的，你必羡慕。 | 15Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. |
16但如今你数点我的脚步，岂不窥察我的罪过吗？ | 16For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? |
17我的过犯被你封在囊中，也缝严了我的罪孽。 | 17My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity. |
18“山崩变为无有，磐石挪开原处； | 18And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place. |
19水流消磨石头，所流溢的洗去地上的尘土。你也照样灭绝人的指望。 | 19The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man. |
20你攻击人常常得胜，使他去世；你改变他的容貌，叫他往而不回。 | 20Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away. |
21他儿子得尊荣，他也不知道；降为卑，他也不觉得。 | 21His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them. |
22但知身上疼痛，心中悲哀。” | 22But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn. |
