1奉我们救主神和我们的盼望基督耶稣之命，做基督耶稣使徒的保罗， | 1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; |
2写信给那因信主做我真儿子的提摩太。愿恩惠、怜悯、平安从父神和我们主基督耶稣归于你！ | 2Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. |
爱是命令的总归 | Love is the summary of command |
3我往马其顿去的时候，曾劝你仍住在以弗所，好嘱咐那几个人不可传异教， | 3As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, |
4也不可听从荒渺无凭的话语和无穷的家谱；这等事只生辩论，并不发明神在信上所立的章程。 | 4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. |
5但命令的总归就是爱，这爱是从清洁的心和无亏的良心、无伪的信心生出来的。 | 5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: |
6有人偏离这些，反去讲虚浮的话， | 6From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; |
7想要做教法师，却不明白自己所讲说的、所论定的。 | 7Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. |
8我们知道律法原是好的，只要人用得合宜。 | 8But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; |
9因为律法不是为义人设立的，乃是为不法和不服的，不虔诚和犯罪的，不圣洁和恋世俗的，弑父母和杀人的， | 9Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, |
10行淫和亲男色的，抢人口和说谎话的，并起假誓的，或是为别样敌正道的事设立的。 | 10For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; |
11这是照着可称颂之神交托我荣耀福音说的。 | 11According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. |
保罗以自己为罪魁还是蒙恩 | Does Paul think he is the chief sinner or is he favored? |
12我感谢那给我力量的我们主基督耶稣，因他以我有忠心，派我服侍他。 | 12And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; |
13我从前是亵渎神的、逼迫人的、侮慢人的，然而我还蒙了怜悯，因我是不信、不明白的时候而做的。 | 13Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. |
14并且我主的恩是格外丰盛，使我在基督耶稣里有信心和爱心。 | 14And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. |
15“基督耶稣降世，为要拯救罪人。” 这话是可信的，是十分可佩服的。在罪人中我是个罪魁！ | 15This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. |
16然而我蒙了怜悯，是因耶稣基督要在我这罪魁身上显明他一切的忍耐，给后来信他得永生的人做榜样。 | 16Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. |
17但愿尊贵、荣耀归于那不能朽坏、不能看见、永世的君王——独一的神，直到永永远远！阿门。 | 17Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
劝勉提摩太打美好的仗 | Encourages Timothy to fight the good fight |
18我儿提摩太啊，我照从前指着你的预言，将这命令交托你，叫你因此可以打那美好的仗， | 18This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; |
19常存信心和无亏的良心。有人丢弃良心，就在真道上如同船破坏了一般。 | 19Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: |
20其中有许米乃和亚历山大，我已经把他们交给撒但，使他们受责罚就不再谤讟了。 | 20Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. |
